How to Put Clip-in Hair Extensions

Long, flowing hair has always been a symbol of beauty and glamour. However, maintaining such hair can be time-consuming and demanding. For those who desire a temporary boost in length and volume, clip-in extensions offer a convenient solution. Celebrities often rely on hair extensions to achieve their glamorous looks. In the past, these extensions were primarily accessible to professionals and those with deep pockets.

However, the advent of clip-in extensions has made them a practical and affordable option for everyone. Clip-in extensions offer a versatile and easy-to-use way to enhance your hairstyle. With proper care, a good set of clip-ins can last for years, making them a worthwhile investment.

Prep Hair

Before you start, make sure your hair is clean and dry. This will help the extensions grip better. Gently detangle your hair to remove any knots or tangles. Preparing the necessary tool that can make you easy to operate for saving your time. There are some tools you can refer to:

  • Comb: Detangling your hair before and after applying the extensions
  • Sectioning clips: Keep your hair organized and out of the way while you work
  • Mirror: See what you’re doing and ensure the extensions are applied evenly
  • Hairspray: A light mist of hairspray can help secure the extensions in place

Section Off Hair

Create a part from the crown of your head to the nape of your neck, dividing your hair into two sections. Clip up the top section, leaving the bottom section loose.

Apply Clip-In

Match the clip-in extensions to the width of your bottom hair section. Open the clips on the extension and place them near the root of your hair, about 1-2 inches from your scalp. Close the clips firmly to secure them. Repeat this process with the remaining extensions, working your way up to the top of your head.

  • Pro-tip: For a natural look, it’s often best to start with smaller sections of extensions and gradually add more as needed. Experiment with different placement and styling techniques to achieve your desired look.

Styling

Gently blend the extensions with your natural hair by combing through them together. Style your hair as desired. You can curl, straighten, or add volume to your hair with the extensions in place.
